Part I: Tick bite at the site treatment
Once bitten, I urge immediate, stringent treatment of the site of a bite with a variety of effective wholistic remedies which will be delineated below.
There is still much misinformation, including statements by the CDC about tick bites and lyme disease. Hanging on to that misinformation, not taking swift powerful action once bitten can be the difference between quickly recovering from an infected bite or dealing with years or even a lifetime of debilitating chronic illness which can manifest physically and/or neurologically. I am acutely aware of this with a beloved family member who has struggled with chronic illness from Lyme and co-infections since childhood despite some of the best conventional and wholistic treatments out there.
The current CDC statement that says the risk for Lyme disease is very low if a tick has been attached for fewer than 24 hours’ is misleading and FALSE. Anaplasma, Babesia, all the Borellias, Ehrlichia, and Powassan virus are all transmitted by the same tick that transmits Lyme disease. Powassan can be transmitted within 15 minutes.
Certain ticks do not carry Lyme disease: FALSE
At least nine other tick species, INCLUDING DOG TICKS in the US and several more all over the globe carry and transmit pathogens.
The classic bull’s-eye rash is the main or only indicator of Lyme disease: FALSE.
Lyme can be present from a bite even if you do not show a bulls-eye rash; and a bulls-eye rash may not be seen on the scalp or hidden areas.
Removal do’s and don’ts:
DO: Ticks should ONLY be removed with a tick key or good quality pointy tweezers for the tiny nymphs which can be smaller than a poppy seed. Removing the tick in one piece with head is ideal and critical.
DO NOT EVER attempt to smother, squish or use a hot match to encourage the tick to back out, Those methods will cause the tick to regurgitate even more germs into your body before it decides to back out.
Treating the site:
Here is where I encourage much more care than is suggested by the CDC which is ‘clean the site and apply antibiotic ointment’… end of story.
I believe the more persistently you treat a bite site the more likely you can reduce the microbial load and help to prevent more aggressive spread from the site. These methods can be applied to any sort of bug bite.
- Immediately generously apply clove oil if you are out and about and don’t have access to the next items in this list right away. Then you can apply 4x’s a day along with the rest of the applications listed below.
- As soon as you can, apply a thick paste mixture of powdered bentonite or facial clay and powdered goldenseal mixed with colloidal silver 250 to 500PPM. Let it dry fully until it flakes off. The drying clay helps pull toxins from the site through the skin while the goldenseal is a strong antiminfective and anti-inflammatory herb. Do this twice a day.
- Apply a strong healing salve and colloidal silver at least 4x’s day such as the one we have called Comprehensive Healing salve, or Herb Pharm’s Original salve which is a very effective antibiotic and antimicrobial.
Important! When applying these treatments apply over a wide area over and around the bite.
Keep up care of the bite site for a minimum of 5 days or longer until it really looks like it’s no longer visible.
I suggest several additional immediate interventions to take orally once bitten: homeopathic Ledum, a Japanese knotweed formula, a mushroom formula which are included in my instructions for Maggie’s Comprehensive Tick and Lyme Kit which you can view on my website NianticAcupuncture.com.
